Discipleship
DISCIPLESHIP CLASSES are designed to educate
believers to develop a deeper relationship with God through on going
bible study.
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in Him, ‘If you abide in my
Word, you are truly my disciples.’”
John 8: 31 (ESV)
Our goal for these small groups is to see disciples not only have a head
knowledge of God, but also to live out a daily walk of victory by having
a “right heart” relationship with God. Therefore, discipleship is not
just teaching people to OBSERVE the Word of God.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them
to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you
always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 19 - 20 (ESV)
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving themselves.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man
who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at
himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one
who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres,
being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in
his doing.”
James 1: 22 - 25 (ESV)
Through Discipleship Classes we hope to ultimately transform believers
from being “Spiritually Educated” to becoming “Spiritual Educators.”
“About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you
have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be
teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of
the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who
lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a
child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers
of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from
evil.”
Hebrews 5:11 - 14 (ESV)
