The Back of The Calendar
Home Purpose Statement for
MVBC Youth Ministry

"MVBC youth ministry exists to provide opportunities for students
to connect with God and with others, to provide Biblical content
to answer and combat the influence of the world, and
to commission students to reach out to the lost and the hurting with the love of Jesus Christ. "
"The Shelter" on Wednesday Nights

What is a shelter? One definition protrays a shelter as "... protection from danger." Another entry defines a shelter as "... temporary housing for homeless or displaced persons." We desire for students to find a place of protection from the attacks of the world, as well as a home at MVBC where they feel welcome and accepted. "The Shelter" is an idea that attempts to catch what we want the Student Ministry at MVBC to embody.  Wednesday nights are a time for students to connect with God through times of worship and relevant Bible Study.  Come join us on Wednesday nights from 6:20 - 7:30 p.m. in the Outside Youth Building.
  "How To Study Your Bible"
Fall Months, 2009 on Sunday Nights at 5:00 p.m. in the Outside Youth Room - Does the thought of "studying the Bible" scare you? Do you often wonder where to begin? We are hoping to ease student's fears of approaching the Bible, and to equip them for how to correctly Canon read and interpret the Bible with confidence. We will be going through the book of 1 John, verse by verse each week, and use it as our book of study. Students will be taught what to look for in a passage of Scripture and also what tools to use when reading & interpreting the Bible. JOIN US!!!

        WHAT IS IT!!!
  1. First Priority. A monthly gathering of youth in the Elmore County area for a large youth praise and worship service. These events are almost always held on the 3rd Sunday Night of the month at a sister church in the county.  June, July, and December are usually off-months for First Priority Praise. The purpose of this event is to expose the youth to youth-led worship in sister churches, and also to build fellowship with those in other churches.
  2. Youth SS Fellowship A quarterly gathering in the youth SS room during the Sunday School hour where we have breakfast, games, fun activities, and devotionals!
  3. Fall Festival We are considering this as a youth mission project. The students will serve the church and the community by assisting in the various activities provided for at the Fall Festival assigned for chosen by their Sunday School classes.
  4. OCC "Operation Christmas Child," Nov. 27th. Students may choose to go with a group in Gerogia to pack shoe boxes for needy children around the world. They will be leaving from the church at 8:00 a.m. and will return at 8:00 p.m. See Bro. Charlie for more details.
